As with every vacation, there is a certain point that is reached where you forget about your responsibilities, work, school, bills, and just relax, unwind, and let go. For us this came on day 3, coincidentally at the same time we checked out of the Westin St. Francis and would no longer have internet access for the rest of our trip. [With the exception of chatting & WAP pages available on my cell phone]
Again, I woke up pretty early. This is something I don't understand. When I'm on vacation or staying anywhere other than home, I always naturally wake up early, around 7-9am. At home I can't, for the life of me, get out of bed before 10:30am.
But anyways we took one last stroll around Union Square to pick up some last minute things... muhaha went to Neiman Marcus to get my Luella. [BTW- we've decided to officially name Lulu, "Luella Bear", even after my dream] Then we had lunch at Prado Pizza (muhahahax2) and checked out of the hotel. We drove around the city like tourists to take pictures and video.
We started with a quick trip over the Bay Bridge to Treasure Island, for my first view of Alcatraz Island and San Francisco. Then we headed towards the Embarcadero, first stopping at Pier 1 to Hog Island's Oyster Co. for oysters and the best fresh baby clam chowder I've ever had. Then we continued up to Fisherman's Wharf to pig out on mini donuts and candy and buy souveniers. After walking around and taking pictures, we made a quick stop at the Palace of Fine Arts before continuing on to Sausalito.
In Sausalito we checked into one of the "nicest" rooms in the Casa Madrona hotel. We were originally going to go back to the city to eat crepes, but after lounging around the seaside city we didn't want to leave. We walked along the harbor, had a few snacks, and visited the galleries in downtown. Everything was within walking distance of the hotel so we did a lot of walking. We found a bar&grill overlooking the water so we had dinner there. Then we went back to the hotel to relax and had tiramisu & coffee out on the balcony overlooking the bay. We had an awesome view of Tiburon from our hotel room. Pictures to follow~
