Fob Night

For some reason, yesterday I had an extreme craving for Beef Noodle Stew for dinner... the kind I used to eat in Monterey Park as a kid. A craving just popped up that could only be fulfilled by trekking down to the corner of Garfield and Valley... so Steve and I made plans to go to San Gabriel for dinner. To avoid traffic, we left at around 8:30PM which was alright by me since I didn't even get home from work until almost 8PM.

By the time we arrived in San Gabriel I was so hungry that while Steve went to the ATM (almost all restaurants in SGV are Cash Only), I popped into Phoenix Desserts to get a Mango Delight -- a milky drink with mini tapioca balls (not boba) and fresh mango. This drink is seriously the most delightful drink in the world. I mean, it even tastes cute and happy.

So for dinner we went to Shau Mei... which is a street-style cafe that serves Hong Kong and Taiwanese home-y food. I got the Beef Noodle Stew and Steve got a 3-item combo. We also got Shanghai Pan-Friend Small Bao (more on that below). Now I don't know how they do it, but the 3-item combo had more than enough food to feed us both and it was only $4. Shau Mei actually has another location down the street on Valley that is All-You-Can-Eat for $4. This has got to be some very low-quality food! Which means nothing beats it in taste. :)

So after the oil-drenched, scalding hot Chinese food, we decided to make it a Fob Night by heading into Cue next door -- yes.... another sticker picture store. :) I mean I didn't suggest to take sticker pictures just by my own fobby account -- this is not a regular habit for me like it is for Aai. We had Lulu in the car and I thought it would be cute to take one with her. :) So we took pictures (which I will post all over this blog, Friendster, Myspace and Facebook later, just to annoy you) and left.

And today I came to the knowledge that leftover Chinese food make the best snacks at work! At Phoenix I bought some Mango pudding which was a little powdery but still made a good breakfast. And for lunch today, I stuck the leftover baos in the toaster oven and oh good Lord they tasted as good as they did yesterday.

Yum.

Halo 3 Launch

Actual string of e-mails I got from a bunch of developers at my company this morning:

"Working from home -- Staying close to home base today. Other than a couple of errands, I’ll be online and checking email throughout the day. If you have any urgent urgencies please call my cell @ xxx-xxx-xxxx. ~Gary"

"You can tell he didn’t get any sleep last night, are your fingers cramping Master Chief?"

"How long did you wait in line?"

"I spoke to Gary and Mason yesterday, but I am WFH today as well. I will be out of pocket from 10-12 but should be answering my e-mail sporadically throughout the day."

How much do you want to bet that all these guys are Halo'ing together right now. =P

Well, after work I've promised Steve to go with him to EB Games to pick up his pre-ordered copy of Halo 3. He -says- he wants me to play it with him but I gotta tell you, I've been practicing on Halo 2 and I can't even walk. I mean the whole dual-thumb thing... I walk into things, get stuck into corners, fall off of ledges... and it's so hard to tell the good aliens from the bad aliens. It's all one massive headache.

I should have prepared for this week a little better and arranged The O.C. Season 3 to arrive from NetFlix today.

Pitter Patter

The best thing to do on a rainy day is to stay indoors and watch TV. So we started Heroes Season 1 on Friday night.

And we finished on Sunday afternoon.

Lulu Baby

I am having an extremely stressful (bad) day at work today so I am taking a short break to think/talk about Lulu!

So this morning I turned on the TV as I was getting ready for work -- a new luxury ever since Steve moved his TV into my bedroom. :) Even though it was only 15 minutes of the morning news, I immediately felt a little more in touch with the outside world. I mean, I didn't even hear about the OJ thing until 2 days ago when he was already out on bail. Serious lag in news.

So as I was getting ready to leave, I felt my usual pangs of guilt about leaving Lulu alone at home all day and decided to leave the TV on for her for an hour (Thank God for the sleep function). I don't have Animal Planet anymore so I was browsing channels for a dog-friendly (or at least dog-interesting) show for her to watch when I came across the BabyFirstTV channel.

In the mornings they show "Baby Developmental" programming with colorful pictures and... animals! I called for Lulu's attention and in no time she was watching intently while softly barking at the pigs and chickens under her breath. So sad that these days the TV is a "child's" best nanny.

I remember seeing an infomercial a while back about a DVD made especially for cats with scenes or birds flying around and chirping... I need to hunt one of those down for Lulu. That would TOTALLY keep her busy all day. :P

Organic Growth

To celebrate the launch of our re-designed website, all of the employees at my work (across all offices) got a little gift on our desks today. (Mine's green!)

We each got an iPod shuffle growing out of a little wheatgrass plant. Matches the new website, heehee.

Edit: So I swapped my green shuffle for a blue one yesterday... it's turquoise-y and super cuter. This continues my streak of never paying for an iPod!!
