Not sure why I have been angry at correspondence I receive from various companies lately or why I have been reading them more often, but here is another stinker. So last year I had almost 20,0000 points on Delta SkyMiles which is the equivalent to a ticket to anywhere in the U.S. I didn't have a chance to redeem it and it expired on Dec 31, 2008. Bummer.
Today I get this e-mail from them saying I have a chance to "reactivate" and get all of my points back before May. I was thinking, "Yay! That's so nice of them! Smart way to get a customer back-" until I kept reading and realized I'd have to BUY the points back. $50 for every 5,000 points. Dumb.
To get back my 20,000 points, it would cost me $200, which is the price of a plane ticket anyway! Is this some stupid plot to make revenue because the economy is shot and travel sales are down? So dumb! Is there some award for dumb marketing plot to trick people out of their money I can nominate them for! Augh!
