Earlier today I was driving around in Santa Monica when it hit me how great of a city LA is. No, I am not being sarcastic- this isn't another rant-post about the traffic in LA. Now that I'm done with school I have a lot more free time to roam the city. It's a shame that I've been using most of it to sleep. Today I made a pact to myself that I will get out more while I can.
So in light of being out and about, this is what I did today.
My drive through Santa Monica was actually with Lulu on the way to Wagging Tail to exchange some pup stuff. On the way I saw so many little restaurants that I've previously made a note to try out but never had the chance to. So my first resolution... stop overeating at the same restaurants and try out new places. There is a bread & porridge place on Wilshire, a cafe on Montana Ave, lots of great places to bring one of my pups and eat lunch outdoors while enjoying fresh air.
After my SM outing, I picked up Richard and we went to Neiman Marcus. (Beauty event!) No resolutions here. But afterwards we went to Coffee Bean on Beverly. (Tried the Lavender Tea *e recommended... mmMm!) And that was resolution number 2. We go to Coffee Bean at least 5 times a week... the one on Wilshire in Santa Monica, on Montana, in Brentwood... I'm pretty darn sick of Coffee Bean. Time to hit up new coffee digs like Peet's in Brentwood or the new Urth Cafe on Beverly. Well, this resolution is kinda lame because I don't really drink coffee anyway. (My drink at CB&TL is the Malibu Dream)
After we had coffee we decided to have an early dinner at Chipotle. No resolution here either. Maybe just one to eat less.
Then later in the evening we decided to go to Coldstone's. Richard's hooked on the banana ice cream with double chocolate chips and double almonds. I like the coffee ice cream with brownie and oreos. Then we went to Coffee Bean again so Richard could have his second iced americano for the day. Ridiculous I tell you. Especially since I can make one at home with his nespresso machine that I got him for Christmas. Then we headed out to Century City to watch Be Cool. (Great movie btw, a bit slow in the first few minutes but couldn't stop laughing once I got going) And then I realized we don't really get to go out and watch movies anymore... we're always at home on the computer. So, my next resolution was to start watching more movies. (Still part of my "get out more" thing)
So, in conclusion, I have resolved to get out more, even if it's by myself or with one of the dogs... even if it's to stop by a bookstore and then read the book in the park... or even if it's to walk 2 blocks to Literati Cafe to pick up a salad for lunch... it's time I take advantage of the beautiful weather LA has to offer and spend time outside... instead of in bed. Or shopping.
