Puptrition

When we first got Moley, the breeder was feeding him Iams Lamb & Rice formula so we just continued. Then at the store we realized Eukanuba was the "higher" end food from the Iams company so naturally, we switched. I was pretty happy with the choice, because of all the other PetCo dog foods, Eukanuba seemed pretty premium. That was until I learned about corn.

As it turns out, dogs do not digest corn very well. Also, since corn and cornmeal are so cheap and abundant, most major pet food companies use it as a filler for their foods. It is often listed as the 2nd or 3rd ingredient in the ingredients list, oftentimes dog food contain more corn than actual meat... and dogs don't even digest corn! So not only is this a waste in calories, a strain on their stomachs, I found out that dogs are much better off without it-- they can live longer healthier lives.

So of course I set out to try to find the perfect food for my pups. After searching the web and even consulting pet forums, I settled with Wellness dog food, made my Old Mother Hubbard. You can't find it at PetCo or Ralph's, but they are carried by almost all other small chain pet stores. It's the same price as Eukanuba and it's a whole lot better. The food is human quality with lots of nutrition. Also it smells like fish and dogs love it.

Now my new problem is... Lulu likes the adult food and Moley likes the puppy food =( I can't get them to eat their own food! Grrrr!
