Cutting in line

After a quick nap at home, Richard and I drove around looking for a place to have dinner. I wanted to eat something small and tasty, he wanted a big steak. But since we're going to have steaks at Balboa Lounge tomorrow night, I begged him not to eat at Mastro's. Well, we ended up at Lawry's... on a Saturday night at 7pm. I told him it will take us WAY too long to get a table but it was too late- he had already pulled into the valet. It was REALLY crowded so I told him, why don't you pretend that we had the AMEX concierge make us a reservation for 7pm, since we were there on the dot- and they fell for it. But since we were not in the books, all they could do was cut our wait time in half and we had a table in about 20 minutes... not bad considering the other patrons had to wait an hour!

I've never been to Lawry's before 8pm... maybe my earliest dinner there was about 9pm, so I've never had their meatballs and chips in the waiting room. This time, since we were there early, there was a fresh pot of meatballs- man they were good! Even the fresh-baked chips were good. Or maybe I was just really, really hungry since I didn't have any lunch. So, a California and Diamond Jim Brady cut later, we were too full to have dessert, even though their hot chocolate cake is probably the best I've had.

And that was my Saturday night.
