Seriously. All that money and... ???

A day in the wilderness

Went to Fontana today! I did my best to convince Marcela to get a puppy... and we came home with Pepe!

Pepe is almost 7 weeks old and he is a purebred toy Maltese... so tiny! Just under 1lb when we got him. He is super-adorable and feisty too! First day with his new owner and already well-behavin'. He is now living with his new family in San Diego...

...awww I already miss Pepe LePew!

Here are some more pics of lil pepe:

Yes... he is SMALLER than Moley's ear!

Enjoying the City: Day One

I had no plans today so after I woke up I got the dogs ready and we started on our hike towards Brentwood. (Okay, it's only a 20 minute walk up a sidewalk) I stopped by a newsstand to buy the newest copy of US Mag (what's more LA than tabloids like US mag?? :P) and stopped at Frankie & Johnnie's on San Vincente for lunch. After reading the first half of my mag and downing a slice of pepperoni we headed towards Peet's Coffee & Tea down the street. I sat down with a Chai Latte to read the rest of my mag.

Then it happened. An SUV pulled up and two boxers got out. It was craziness. Barking and pulling and yelping and lunging and too much to handle. After things quieted down my dogs were still antsy so we got up to walk home. I noticed on the way home that they were still walking with a bounce to their step... they're supposed to be exhausted by now! So I turned around and walked all the way to the Barrington Dog Park by Sunset Blvd. (Yes... we walked THAT far!~)

So we lounged at the park until it started getting cold and breezy. Lulu faced her fear of leaving my legs and actually hopped around the park a little bit, chasing dogs that were less than half her size. (The mere presence of one within 20 feet of her that WAS her size would immediately prompt her to run and hide under my legs) Moley got to hump a couple of male dogs. They both got super dirty. Then we trekked on home.

I gave the two stinkbirds a bath and then went to eat dinner with Richard. At Fritto Misto. Again. This is the only resolution I've broken so far! That makes it 4 times of eating there in 10 days.

And that was my day!

Now I'm off to finish another scarf. You know, in case I decide to go take a walk tomorrow evening. It's still cold out there. Really.

Trip down memory lane...

Out and about

Earlier today I was driving around in Santa Monica when it hit me how great of a city LA is. No, I am not being sarcastic- this isn't another rant-post about the traffic in LA. Now that I'm done with school I have a lot more free time to roam the city. It's a shame that I've been using most of it to sleep. Today I made a pact to myself that I will get out more while I can.

So in light of being out and about, this is what I did today.

My drive through Santa Monica was actually with Lulu on the way to Wagging Tail to exchange some pup stuff. On the way I saw so many little restaurants that I've previously made a note to try out but never had the chance to. So my first resolution... stop overeating at the same restaurants and try out new places. There is a bread & porridge place on Wilshire, a cafe on Montana Ave, lots of great places to bring one of my pups and eat lunch outdoors while enjoying fresh air.

After my SM outing, I picked up Richard and we went to Neiman Marcus. (Beauty event!) No resolutions here. But afterwards we went to Coffee Bean on Beverly. (Tried the Lavender Tea *e recommended... mmMm!) And that was resolution number 2. We go to Coffee Bean at least 5 times a week... the one on Wilshire in Santa Monica, on Montana, in Brentwood... I'm pretty darn sick of Coffee Bean. Time to hit up new coffee digs like Peet's in Brentwood or the new Urth Cafe on Beverly. Well, this resolution is kinda lame because I don't really drink coffee anyway. (My drink at CB&TL is the Malibu Dream)

After we had coffee we decided to have an early dinner at Chipotle. No resolution here either. Maybe just one to eat less.

Then later in the evening we decided to go to Coldstone's. Richard's hooked on the banana ice cream with double chocolate chips and double almonds. I like the coffee ice cream with brownie and oreos. Then we went to Coffee Bean again so Richard could have his second iced americano for the day. Ridiculous I tell you. Especially since I can make one at home with his nespresso machine that I got him for Christmas. Then we headed out to Century City to watch Be Cool. (Great movie btw, a bit slow in the first few minutes but couldn't stop laughing once I got going) And then I realized we don't really get to go out and watch movies anymore... we're always at home on the computer. So, my next resolution was to start watching more movies. (Still part of my "get out more" thing)

So, in conclusion, I have resolved to get out more, even if it's by myself or with one of the dogs... even if it's to stop by a bookstore and then read the book in the park... or even if it's to walk 2 blocks to Literati Cafe to pick up a salad for lunch... it's time I take advantage of the beautiful weather LA has to offer and spend time outside... instead of in bed. Or shopping.
