How lonely my blog is -- no pretty pictures from the weekend.
I shall search the web to find alternative representations of what my weekend was like.
On Saturday we biked down to Venice Beach again (getting boring) to eat brunch at Rose Cafe. This was my first time there -- it's a very cute place. I had the 'Eggs Scandia' which was basically an Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon on croissant. Sounded so yummy but wasn't that tasty. The croissant was a little hard, the salmon sparse and the sauce over-bearing.

But the place was really cute!
After hanging out and lazying about at home, I had the sudden craving for fried foods again, so we did the LA dinner thing... you know, drive around aimlessly until you find a parking spot, then eat at the closest restaurant. After driving through Westwood, Westwood Blvd, Pico Blvd, we finally ended up on Sawtelle, in front of Furaibo! What luck!

I challenged myself and did NOT order the Hampen Cheese this time, although it is my favorite dish in the entire wide world. Instead, we went with chicken wings, calamari, tori soboro and some enoki scallops. Yum yum.
That night I decided to start Twilight, Book 1 of the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyers. I got through a couple of chapters and went to bed. I didn't really start getting into it until Sunday, when I didn't leave the couch at all except for the occasional walk-through the kitchen yearning for snacks I did not have. I was such a teenybopper, taking breaks in between chapters to google production photos and videos of the moving coming out in December. It made the book all that more visual now that I was able to put faces to the characters -- since the author only describes them as the most beautiful creatures in the world, with wildly colored hair.

That said, not a very beautiful cast.
On Sunday I also stopped by Century City to do a bit of birthday shopping. Steve's birthday is on July 3rd and he has a twin, so it was double duty. I also started scoping out possible presents for Vina who is turning 21.
After shopping, I felt like eating fried foods again, this time fried macaroni balls from Cheesecake Factory. I just had these last week but they were so good I had to have some again. Immediately. Prepare yourselves, this is a big picture...

So yummy and crispy and cheesy and bready and heavenly. Nibbled on some spinach and cheese dip, fire-roasted artichoke, buffalo wings and a lot of bread before coming home with a stomachache. It was worth it though.
So I went back home to continue reading Twilight and finished around 10PM. I wasn't sure at that point if I should move on to the next book (would have been an all-nighter for sure) or be good and go to sleep early, since I had an early meeting today. I ended up finding some Rasberry Chocolate Mousse from Amandine's in the fridge and ate that, then prepared for bed.
Ai, I hope that this post is enough to get you to visit out here this summer! :)
This week is a short week... we have 7/3-7/4 off. And if we're lucky, they might declare 7/2 a half-day at the last minute. I'm already on weekend mode and can't focus at work. I wish I had my digital camera with me to at least upload some pictures or something. By the way, why is no one using the shutterfly site?
