Augh the heat...

I saw the funniest thing today. I was at Rodeo and you know how they have a few metered parking spots on Little Santa Monica but in between are all red-zone? Well there was this silver car illegally parked in the red-zone behind a normally parked car at the meter... and well the engine was running, there was guy in the driver's seat with his chair slightly reclined sleeping, wait not just sleeping but head cocked back with an open mouth (I'm sure if the windows were open we could hear his snoring) and on the windshield was a brand new, just-placed parking ticket. :D

Too much partying last night eh?

Oh and I've made my decision about the iPod. Because of my lack of use for one, I am not going to purchase one until a) I have a brand new shiny BMW 6-series convertible (in white) that is compatible with the iPod or b) I have collected enough American Express rewards points to get one for free. Please root for b) since it is the most likely to happen.

So anyone want to donate any AMEX points?

Eatin' @ the Ocean

After driving around Venice and Santa Monica in search of a dinner spot that both Richard and I could agree on, we decided to eat at Sushi Roku in Santa Monica. However, it was 9:30pm and there was STILL a 20 minute wait so we decided to go next door to Ocean Ave instead. (Plus Richard saw steak on the menu and of course that was pretty much the deciding factor for him)

I actually didn't mind because we've been here once before for Sunday brunch and I remembered they had really good fresh oysters. (Which was no exception last night, we had the perfect platter of West-Coast oysters: a little bit briny, lots of sweetness, and small and plump... too bad I forgot what type of oysters they were) Anyhoo- all throughout dinner my eyes kept wandering to this asian girl at the table next to us. No- it wasn't because I found her attractive or anything, it was just the way she carried herself and swung her head around over-dramatically when she laughed. It was also her company- they were 3 very Hollywood-type of guys that seem to hang on every single word she mispronounced. But she looked so familiar...

It took me a while but I finally placed her... it was Bai Ling. I know, I know, only *I* would recognize someone like Bai Ling. I had actually just seen her picture from the Prada Epicentre opening party and thought to myself, "I thought she's only played small roles, why is this girl at every major Hollywood event?" and a week after that I saw her picture in some magazine where she wore shoes encrusted with crystal in the form of "BAI" on her right foot and "LING" on her left foot. THAT's why the image of her was so fresh in my mind and I was able to recognize her.

Anyways, I guess that is my "celebrity-sighting" for the week. How come I never run into any cool celebs ^.^

Riviera of the Pacific

Tonight I had dinner with Richard at Beau Rivage to celebrate our anniversary. Actually, our first date was here, over 3 years ago :-P

This restaurant never ceases to take my breath away. It's located off of PCH in Malibu a couple of minutes north of Pepperdine U. The decor is amazing - it is rated as the most romantic restaurant in Southern California, as well as earning a ranking in the Top 10 places to kiss in LA"... seriously our waiter told us that ~.~

Usually when I come here I order the lobster or the lobster pasta... tonight I decided to try something different. I had the Santa Barbara Prawns served with a spicy linguine-- it was amazing! The prawns were oversized and grilled to perfection with just the right amount of flavor and sweetness. Not to mention they were all female and loaded with eggs. Yum! Even Richard said that his Bistecca alla Fiorentina was "almost as good as Mastro's" which is a VERY high compliment coming from him. Unfortunately though, my entree was actually a special for the evening so I don't think they have it year-round.

I always love the scenic drive up to this hidden restaurant, it really puts you in the mood for a quiet, private dinner. I also love that the restaurant isn't always over-crowded like the newer over-hyped West Hollywood eateries. This place will always be on the top of my list for special occasion dining.

Sucked in.

I think I want an iPod.

Well, I was never really into the whole MP3 player thing. My cell phone kinda has an mp3 player in it, but of course it doesn't hold much memory since I have to share the memory stick duo with the camera.

Then I found out Sony had one. I thought hmmm.... maybe that would be nice. Complete my Sony collection. But the ipod's cuter. Plus there are cute iPod cases and stuff. I could listen to it when... I ... uhm.... well I could maybe listen to it when I errrr...

do I really not have an activity where I could listen to music? Well most people listen to their ipod when they walk. I don't really walk. Unless shopping counts? But listening to music while shopping might get annoying. Then there's working out... but I rarely go to the gym (once in 2 weeks?) and other times I'm at Pilates mat class so I can't listen to music there. Well I could listen to music while I study... but that's lame because my laptop's right in front of me so I could just plug in headphones to my laptop and listen to music.

Oh wait! I could listen to it when I read books! Like in bed at night, I could listen to music while I read... errr wait. Then I won't know what's going on on Days of Our Lives. Hmmmm... maybe I could listen to it while I'm bubble bathing? Or is that dangerous. Wouldn't want to accidentally drop it in.

Augh. But they're so cute. Especially the mini ones. But they don't make cases for the mini ones, just the big ones. Yup, I think I want a big one.
