I went to Captain Kidd's today for lunch- it was my mom, vina, aai, lulu, and me. As usual, my mom brought rice, and sauce for the crabs in those little glad ziploc containers (what would she do without those???) since American condiments for seafood (butter + lemon) aren't right for eating with rice. The restaurant/fresh seafood market is right off the Redondo Beach harbor and has an outdoor patio so Lulu was able to come and have lunch with us. Of course, she stuck with her puppy kibble.

It's "Crepe" like "Grape"

Yona says "kreps"
Vina says "kreeps"
Joanna says "kraps"

The lady in Westwood said (while walking by Green Tea Terrace) "Oh look they have 'creepies' like in France."

Well, whatever you call it, I made some last night! Several weeks ago Richard bought a crepe machine online. Then last week I searched the internet for different recipes and I tried one out last night. I always thought the recipe would be the hard part because it looks really easy to make them. I was wrong.

The recipe was fine off the bat. Spreading the crepe batter looks SO easy, but the batter is very sensitive to the heat of the cooker, so if you have it too hot, it cooks too fast and gets really messy. But, after about 7 tries I got a pretty good one. And yes, Richard and I ate all 7. We put our favorite toppings on: Nutella (the advantage of making this at home- you can put as much as you want!), fresh strawberries & bananas, and powdered sugar. The crepes weren't bad either, just the right amount of butter and some were crispy. Yum, yum.

Come over let's have a crepe party!

Shopaholic & Sister

I rarely buy books retail. Most new books I buy from Costco, which is usually 20-40% off. Half of my James Patterson collection is from the bargain bins at Borders, and the other half are from eBay. All of my ChickLit is from eBay. The ONLY book I've purchased at retail price was "Can You Keep a Secret?" by Sophie Kinsella at the LAX airport bookstore. Okay, okay, we'll leave Richard's Trump & real estate books out of this- because those I purchase at retail too. Anyways, I just purchased my first book for over retail.

I love the Shopaholic series. They're just fun, quick reads. Not to mention hilarious. So I was browsing Amazon, and I found out that there's a 4th book in the series, but it hasn't been released in the US yet: only the UK. The American version isn't coming out until Sept 2004. So I looked for it on eBay, and sure enough there were several UK sellers selling the book. I found only one US seller who had the book but with shipping and all the book was selling for a little over retail. But I got one anyway. It came in the mail yesterday afternoon and I finished it by dinnertime. I'm so sad that it's over :oP.

But I won't give you any spoilers. You're going to have to buy it over-retail yourself.

Upgrade

No, not that I had too much time on my hands (although I DID have a lot of lounging time today) I was just annoyed at how long it took my old layout to load, so I decided to streamline and simplify for now. I chose one of Blogger's pre-made blogs this time- rather than staying up half the night :P

A man's point of view...

I saw this posted in a friend's blog... I don't approve of it or anything, just thought it was funny! :P

One evening last week, my wife and I were getting into bed. Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says "I don't feel like it, I just want you to hold me."

I said "WHAT? What was that?"

So she says the words that every husband on the planet dreads to hear..."You're just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man."

She responded to my puzzled look by saying, "Can't you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?"

Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep.

The very next day I opted to take the day off of work to spend time with her. We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big, big unnamed dept. store. I walked around with her while she tried on several different very expensive outfits. She couldn't decide which one to take so I told her we'll just buy them all. She wanted new shoes to compliment her new clothes, so I said lets get a pair for each outfit.

We went on to the jewelry dept. where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings. Let me tell you...she was so excited. She must have thought I was one wave short of a shipwreck. I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn't even know how to play tennis.

I think I threw her for a loop when I said, "That's fine, honey."

She was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement.

Smiling with excited anticipation she finally said, "I think this is all dear, let's go to the cashier."

I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, "No honey, I don't feel like it."

Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled WHAT?

I then said, "Really honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while.

You're just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman."

And just when she had this look like she was going to kill me I added, "Why can't you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?"

Apparently I'm not having sex tonight either.
